Keyhole cichlids in a community...

Hello everyone ,

i am soon going to be setting up a 32Gallon tank and want to have a shoal of cardinals,lots of java ferns,sand substrate, and some type of loach.

i was wondering if it would be ok to have 2 keyhole cichlids in this aquarium?

it depends... define "shoal". Depending on the amount, you should be able to make this work.

it will be fine as long as they are a pair, but if you get 2 males then the dominant one will bully the other one.

They should be fine with your fish you have now.
Just remember to quarantine them. Some fish are sick but don't show signs for months.
My keyholes came with c.worms and it possibly spread to all of our tanks. I got them in Feb an just found out what they had now and are being treated with an expensive med.
