I got a pair of Cutteri Cichlids of a friend 2 weeks ago,
a week later they had spawned in my tank,
needless to say my friend wasn't impressed as he had
been trying to spawn them for 2 months.
but thats fishkeeping I guess..


The parents that spawned 5 days ago...





You can see a couple of fry to the left of the female
just beside the drift wood, the rest of the fry are hiding
in the substrate...





To try and show how well they are camouflaged here's a close up
of the substrated, if you look carefully you can see the fry...

Wow we love them here too. Very kewl looking. We had Jade eyes or blue eyed cichlids here once. Our female looked more like yours but with the jade eye coloring. She was a mix I think.

Hi Allie, these cutteri cichlids are know as blue eyed cichlids,
the Sajicas (T Bar) cichlids I used to have were jade eyed
i'll try and find a pic or 2 of them for comparason

Yep my cutteri did the same thing went from a friends tank to mine and spawned right away. Maybe thats the trigger to get them to spawn - move them from one tank to another
Beautiful little fish and the fry are so sweet. Hope theres nothing else in the tank with them Mine killed some of their tank mates then one of my males got killed. Mama did him in

I have them in a 100g with some large clown loaches
and some young Nics that I am growing on.
so far all is well but i'll keep a close eye on developments.

Cool sounding tank! They might do the Nics in if their small enough. Let us know how it goes

Yup they got super aggressive just like convicts. The guy we sold them to had them for a year or so before he sold them off. They bred like crazy for him.
