I went to clean the tank and this is the first time this has happend, I had all the rocks out, vaccuming the tank as always.. and I had the python turned off, just sitting in the bottom of the tank. I saw some food bits I missed and just picked them up by hand. Well all at once my female kenyi (the one who had the fry) came and just swarmed around my hand then just got on my palm and just stayed their, well the male followed... not to long after playing w/ those two the rest of the cichlids were swimming through my hands.... I didn't touch them, I am so picky about handling the fish (slime coat) but I cupped my hands and they would swim in my hands... so much fun!! my oldest son had a blast watching them.. I guess thats what I get for hand feeding most of them and babying them...

I love that.. cichlids are such interesting fish. Their curiosity and playfulness get overlooked a lot. They're really built up trust in you.

I think they have so much trust w/ me because of my OCD cleaning the tanks lol.. my hands are in there so much they are used to me. If I could only get the peacock tank that friendly...

thats awesome!! can you get a video of that?? I so love the fish that are like humans...our oscars lay in our hands to have their bellys rubbed LOL course I dont because they are bigger than my hand and im worried about their coats also...but its funny to watch...!

The next time I clean the tank like that I will get the video cam out... I can't get over how friendly my cichlids are...
Its stuff like this that makes you want to video and send out to all the people who don't think fish are real pets...

I wish our fish were like that. They are just big babies :P lol I think it might have something to do with our daughters and hitting the tank sometimes. I have gotten pretty close to our lab and he didn't seem to mind. He also seems pretty laid back though. lol Still that is awesome.

Ours hide during cleaning time. The scary python cleaning the gravel make em all hide, lol. They come out to enjoy the fresh water coming out of the hose tho. lol
