Can someone Id Chief?
We got him out of a mixed tank, he was very peaceful when we bought him, and seems to get a long w/ our mbunas very well. He loves the veggies more so than the meat feedings.

Have you checked planet catfish? He looks like he's somewhat close to the julidochromis cichlids.

He is a Malawian Mbuna but what I am not sure. can you get different views of him? He looks like an afra species possibly. How big is he?

Not sure if Planet Catfish is big on ID'ing cichlids.
You might want to try this cichlid forum, if no one here can indentify your fish.

He's barely over 2 and 1/2 inches long right now, I am thinking that the afra looks a lot like him, I am looking at the profiles right now, I am also going to check it out in konings, he looks like the "zebra eastern" in konings book too, but not on the cichlid forum

Too many species look the same. It drives me crazy not know what species of fish I have. I'll check Konings book too.
I find the cichlid forum doesn't have enough info on the species.

Thanks.. its killing me... the one he looks the closest to me is the troph red cheek on the chichlid forum page. He was the only one of his kind in the mixed tank... and I can't find another like him anywhere, but he was so beautiful he was impossible to pass up either, when we find out what he is (or she we want to get more!)
