I am setting up a 30 gallon tank. I was thinking about cichlids. How many can go in a thirty gallon and what other type of fish would be ok to go with them if any.

Check www.cichlid-forum.com for profiles. There are a huge variety of cichlids, a lot won't fit in a smaller tank, but there are quite a few that can be happy in your 30g, including Angels.

I wa sleaning towards Africans. I have someone that is going to give me three when my tank is cycled if I want them. They are approx. 5-6 inches long. If I take them I just wanted to know What I could put on with them if anything. Thanks for the link.

Unfortunately, we have to sell 3 of them. Hate to do it, but I think a pair has formed now and the others need a new home.

Do you know what species they're giving you? Or are you picking what species?

I don't know exactly what kind they are. I actually got them off of my area's freecycle page. (I heard about the site it from here). The owners are moving and cannot take thier fish with them.

I would check out what they are before getting them. Not all african cichlids are compatible.
