Bought new cichlids today!!

I got my usual selection today from my fav store, I needed a male kenyi and I found one just in puberty morphing colors barely yellow. I took him! And I found a female mel. aurartus for my male. Plus I found a red top zebra, and a new scofi (sp)... that was it for that tank...
However When I left there to the other store I went and I found fry for sale, real mbuna fry at a petsmart for sale I bought 3 for my small holding tank to raise they are only 2 weeks old if that... I am really questioning whether or not they should have sold them that small, they were barely an inch long a peice... I got 2 red zebras and one little blue one....
I wanted all of them to raise! They were honestly soo cute.

Thanks.. I am going to add some more rock to the mbuna tank... the mbunas are getting so big and I am wanting to keep the aggression down so today is tank water change day and rock move/add day (good day after getting some new fish huh...) there was only 4 added to that tank.

Remember Malawians need more than 1 female: 1 male 3 female at least.
I guess you like the super aggressive types Kenyi, Red Top zebra and any Melanochromis species are very aggressive. They will fight when mature and not like yellow labs do. It's also best to have 1 Metriacima species in a tank.
You have at least 2 and the most aggressive types. I am only telling you this b/c when they mature they won't be nice to watch fight all day.
When I first got into africans I want all that I could buy, not realizing that certain species don't feel comfortable enough to live/breed around other ones. I had tried 16 different species in my 80g. Only to get frustrated and give up on africans for nearly a year. There is always a right mix. You just need find it. It's always recommend to have only 1 type of each species in a tank. For many reasons. Most importantly for your cichlids to thrive & be happy.

Here a cookie cutter article for sized tank.

Thanks Allie, if they don't end up working out when they mature we can always start another mbuna tank. It would give me a good reason to talk my husband into another larger tank (75-90g) just as he wanted his peacock cichlids and he got his bowfront tank for them. He has mentioned another mbuna tank also. I plan to get one this time off of craigslist and I am already searching.
