Got some new cichlids!!!

We got some new cichlids yesterday... my question is this... We have a yellow tailed acei in the tank that was the "quiet fish" who never bothered anyone and no one bothered him, well when we put an electric blue and an ob peacock, and a red fin peacock in the tank he decided its butt kicking time.... what is with the acei? He is half the size of one of the peacocks he is beating up on! My husband and I rearranged the tank and did a water change right before we got these new guys to unestablish territories, and it worked great w/ the kenyi (thank goodness he was getting ready to go back to the fishstore) The rest of the cichlids in the tank are pretty much peacefull....

Up until we got the new guys or the day before we were going to take the Kenyi back to the store for the same issues. Instead changeing the tank around and putting the new guys in he calmed down. He did slightly pick on the acei. We ended up separating the acei he was trying to mouthfight everyone of the peacocks. Hes mulling it over in a tank by himself right now....
We are buying a 30g tank and putting our peacocks in it and then putting the acei back with the mean guys...

I have heard that if you have a mixed tank with different kinds of cichlids (especially males) they will fight with fish that have similar coloration as them. This could have been the issue since the electric blue does look a lot like an acei minus the yellow tail.

I took the red top, and the ob peacock out.. the acei has calmed down I put it back in the tank.. hes back to his bubbles now.... (all he used to do and is doing now is swim back and forth in the bubbles) he is leaving the electric blue alone...

However, my red zebra and kenyi got into a mouth fight earlier yesterday (first time I really got to see them at it... scared me because I thought they would hurt each other... luckily my opening the top of the tank scared them... and they both are ok)

They'll do that especially the Kenyi (highly aggressive). The acei are mildly aggressive.
