Would this work out

I have 55g and would like to get a JD and a Tiger Oscar what do you guys think about that match up thanks

That would be a bit small for an Oscar, a 75 gallon tank is good for one full sized Oscar, so that would be mostly to small, but I've never had one before but with my I would think it is to small. Buts thats just me.

Arn't Oscars supposed to be kept alone because of aggression?

Nope, as long as you have a big enough tank you can keep Oscars with other aggressive species. Convict are good tank mates...if you can stand the evil aggression when in breeding mode. We even had a JD in with them..but he wasn't aggressive at all so the convicts bullied him.

I keep my oscar with Tin Foil Barbs and Iridescent Sharks (I know the sharks should be left to the wild). Everyone gets along fine, though the Oscar gets a little pushy when she's feeling like it's egg laying time. Would probably be worse if I had a male and she was actually laying eggs.

I'd recommend a bigger tank for either species really. Smaller tanks can make aggression more of an issue.
