That's good to know. I just wanted to make sure she wasn't in any danger from carrying all those eggs. I'll have to get a pic of her..It's kinda cute to see her all chubby like that..lol..I'm hoping they do surprise me!!. ..I've been keeping a very close eye out on them.

I received them last March. I'm not sure how old they were when i got them. I've had them 7 months.

They should be sexually mature at about two to 2 1/2 inches that's just the body. When measuring fish you don't count the fins.

I def have some that are 2 inches maybe even 2 1/2...Just bodies..lol..I made the fin mistake once..lol..Now two females are nice and plump..I did a big water change today with slightly cooler water just incase..
One male has taken residence in a cave but haven't seen any activity so who knows...I'm learning patience is a virtue with these guys.

Edit: Just went and checked on them and a male and female are hanging out in the wood together but they could just be getting some quality time in..lol

That's a good sign The male finds a nesting place and the female lays eggs and leaves usually This is so exciting! Keep us posted.

Maybe a little candle light, some wine, and a bit of privacy to go along with that water change might help. LOL sorry I could not resist.

My biggest male has taken over the smallest cave (got from Ken's) and my FULL of eggs female has been hanging around the outside of the cave and trying to get in there..I'm really hoping that eggs will follow sometime soon. How long can the female carry the eggs?? I started to think the females were constipated but that's to big of a coincidence that my 4 males are fine and my 2 females are constipated..lol...so I'm back to thinking they are caryying eggs.

Cesch... What's the weather doing there? If there's a front coming in feed them good and do a water change. That should just about throw them into spawning. Once they start they won't stop

Oh so you have already had the weather....CHANGE THE WATER NOW and feed them!!!! LOL I wanna see BN eggs. Get out the bloodworms () and all kinds of goodies for them. Carol is soooo right on that weather thing. Since we have had all this lovely weather around here there are all kinds of eggs here. Now of course the angel eggs were just a snack for them but they did lay eggs along wtih most all of the fish here.

I agree tis the season!! I wish those silly Rainbows would hurry and spawn. The male controls half of the 120..poor jacks..lol..He vibrates so much trying to get the female that I seriously think he's losing brain cells.. They have dug a huge hole so hopefully they will go ahead and get it over already..lol..I've been doing wc every other day and giving them as much food and they will eat..lol..all kinds of veggies..the other day instead of brineshrimp I put in some beefheart flake. They snarfed that down pretty fast. I'm going to do another wc tonight and hope for the best.

LOL you should have rainbow babies soon....I already have them here. Well I think there are a few left in there. I think they will do better when mom and dad get their own tank....there are two other rainbows in there with them and I think they might have made a snack outta some of the babies. Aren't they pretty when they color up and dance around for each other?

My fingers are crossed for you here on baby BNs. Hee hee we love babies.

One little piece of advice from a friend....don't put the little stinkers in a fully planted tank with dirt and sand that you worked really hard on cause they will make a terrible mess!!!

LOL..no dirt in my tanks..They are bare bottom. I do have live plants and so far they are leaving those alone so they best behave!!...

Update on them. The female is still FAT as can be and still hanging out right by the front of the cave.
