| Well when I'm not trying to get them to breed, which I just started this week because I thought maybe just maybe they were ready I give them lots of veggies everyday. Green beans, squash and zuchhinii. This summer I was using fresh but lately I've been using frozen. Now that I'm trying like mad to get them to breed I give them frozen bloodworms during the day and veggies at night..lol..They just eat all the time. Oh and just recently I got the sprinula waffers from kens...They like those but not they aren't just crazy about them. |

| LOL..I don't know about your Walmart or wherever you shop but the things I buy are CHEAP.Not because I'm being cheap but because they are just low priced..lol...Seriously..the frozen bag of squash I get is like $1.15 I get the canned greenbeans that are no salted and they are like .80 cents..and they last forever!!. The greenbeans usually go bad before they even eat a 3/4 of them. |

| Sounding good. breeding diet for BNs is 80%vegetable matter/20% protein
Non-breeding diet- 90%vegetable matter/10% protein.
So those extra bloodworms are quality protein.

Carol | Yes..sorry I left that out..lol..When I'm not breeding I also feed them the Blood worms once a week but when conditioning I do give them a little bit everyday..Maybe it's too much. What do you think Carol?? |

What do you think Carol?? | Your feeding schedule sounds fine Cesch. Although I wouldn't feed the extra protein over a month at a time
The reason I listed both breeding and non breeding feeding needs is because Plecos/BNs that get too much protein as a regular part of their diet tend to get constipated (can you believe that ) or get bloated.
What is the one in the cave doing? that is breeding behavior in it's self.
Welcome shawnie

| I have another question.
Does a small (very small) change in pH help. Like if i mixed RO water in with my tap water during wc's. My PH is high 7's low 8's. |

| Don't know about pH changes (large pH changes are stresssful) but large water changes and plentiful food are definite triggers.

| Ok.
I'll just keep being patient
I keep trying to figure out what else I can do..but I know they will breed when they are good and ready not when I'm ready..lol. |

| Just start telling yourself that the worst thing that could possibly happen is that they'll spawn. When you've convinced yourself of this it will happen
lol.
I suppose you could always head out of the house for the night, turn the lights on low and leave a bottle of wine chilling for them. |

| well I'm 90% sure that one of my females is full of eggs. I only did the bloodworms for about a week and it's been a week since I did that. Since then I've gone back to the 90% veggie 10% protein ratio and she's still plump as can be...Kinda funny really. I'm not sure that any of my males are mature enough yet though..So I have a few questions. What happens if there isn't a male mature enough, Will she become egg bound, will she continue to carry the eggs or what exactly will happen? |

| If she is full of eggs she will either expel them or reabsorb them. Shouldn't be a problem. although the little guys might surprise you

| The fish look great Cesch! I have a great looking Male GBA, but those long finned ones are stunning! How old are the Males?, I'm fairly sure that they won't breed until they're over a year old. |
