Re: Chinese Algae Eater Photos

Here is a picture of my two CAE's. I got them May 2007 from walmart. they were only about 1/2 inch long. I put them in my outdoor pond since I had moss all over the place. No more moss. They were both the same color when I put them in (the normal coloring) but the one has changed to a pied color. I really like having them in the pond. They swim in the shadow of my goldfish. I don't see the normal colored one very often, it blends in with the pond too well. I like watching the other dart around from fish shadow to fish shadow. I haven't had any problems with agression, but I think that's because I have lots of room for them to swim and hide and plenty of food for them. I have a pleco in my pond also - He has his favorite spot on one of the shelves under a flat rock...

Here's my 3 year old CAE. He's about 4 or 5 inches long and is kind of grumpy these days.

since i gave my other algae eaters to my teacher friend for her classroom fish tanks (she has 3 tanks all 20 gallon that she rotates the two algae eaters depending on which tank has the most algae) anyway, I got me a new little baby normal colored chinese algae eater (rescued from walmart) about a month ago. I was working in my pond this last weekend and took some pics of my growing up - no longer normal colored - algae eater...I really like the golden color! It makes it so much easier to see my cae when he/she is swimming around the rock shelves.

some newer pics of my yellow CAE - and a couple pics of the four CAE's from my sister's pond. They started out in my pond, then moved to hers since hers is larger.
