Feeding RCS with other mates

Hello all,

I have a 10 gallon moss tank (mosses are very short; still need to grow) and in it I have 3 guppies and 6 ghost shrimps. But, my RCS(about 15 shrimps) should arrive this week and they will be housed in the 10 gallon tank with their mates.

My question is on feeding RCS. It looks like RCS is a very small shrimp compared to ghost shrimp. How can I assure that RCS gets enough food when my ghost shrimps are very greedy and attack each other for a piece of algae wafer. Also, when I drop in sinking pellets for the ghost shrimps, it is always that guppies will come near by and start eating them until I pick em up. Do you think RCS can survive in this kind of food competition?

Please inform me with a good strategy to feed all of my shrimps but not overfeed the guppies.

Hi Kayman.

I've had RCS before and they were great and cute With this kind of competition, we don't know for sure if they will get enough food. You can try to do your normal amount of feeding. You can drop in the sinking algae wafers and watch closely if your RCS have enough time to pick on them. If it's not enough, you can drop in another one. Hope my info helps. Good luck and keep us updated

You could try dropping in zuchini like you would as if you have plecos, my RCs love to pluck at the sides of the zuchini and the guppys can't really eat it so they get bored quickly and ignore the food.
