Behavior while having babies?

I came out to my shrimp tank this morning to find ALL my shrimp huddled in one corner. Concerned that this was some overnight mass suicide, I watched very closely. As I watched, I started to see tiny baby shrimp appear! Yay! But my question is, do shrimp all huddle together when one of them is having babies?

9 babies so far and mommy shrimp has about another 20/30 eggs.

Also, the mommy is doing a weird kicking thing. I guess that's how they get the eggs out?

Hello MyFishkies. Congrats on the new shrimp arrivals. I'll have to let some experienced shrimp keepers help you with your questions.

They're still all huddled on top of each other in one corner. I've actually seen a few baby shrimp in the act of hatching. Pretty amazing! But I just want to know if this huddling thing is normal? It's been two days now. How long will it last?

Also, last count I could find about 30 babies and it looks like 4 of my shrimp are actually hatching their eggs, but I also saw 3 babies that aren't moving. Is it normal for a few to die right away?

my shrimp are having baby too, i knew that they were pregnant, but they live in my 75 gl tank with several other typs of fish, do you think that any of them will survive?

I've heard that it can be difficult to raise babies past the egg stage. I think it's so cool that you get to see that first-hand! I'm sorry I don't have any specific advice for you, but all I've read is that keeping the babies alive can be difficult.

Best of luck! Hopefully someone with more shrimp experience will be by.

Yeah I'm interested in this too . I have shrimp and waiting for them to get big enough to start breeding. I have heard that the babies will eat on a cucumber or zuchnia or a veggie wafer.
