I'm wanting to get some red cherry shrimp for my community tank and was just wondering if they would be ok in it. I have a 29 gallon tank and it is planted.

I currently have:
6 mollies
3 hi-fin moons (platies)
3 red tail black variatus
1 dwarf gourami (the RCS are in the tank with these at my work, LFS, and do fine with them)
6 zebra danios/glo fish
clown pleco
Chinese algae eater
blue mystery snail

Once your mollies grow to adult size, I think the shrimp will be eaten. They really stay quite small. Your CAE may also pose a threat to shrimp, and possibly the rest of your stock list as well, as it ages.

If you really want the cherry shrimp, they'd do just fine in a 5 gallon species tank. Just a thought in case you are interested. You could set up a 5 gallon kit for pretty cheap.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking about doing. I already have a tank, filter, heater, and an air pump. I just don't have a light for it.

What fish are compatible with RCS?

Small, peaceful ones.

I keep some with peacock gudgeons, otos, and pygmy hatchets. They ignore each other.
