just wanted to note some changes that i seen and thought was interesting. this is from the log i keep on my plants.
at the end of march when i moved here i caught and transported over only 9 RCS shrimp, i gave them their own 10 gal tank and its planted quite nicely, getting dense (val, water wisteria, water sprite & duckweed [ugh]).. anyways-
that was roughly 4 months ago. And just about 2 weeks ago it seemed like a heat wave wiped out all my shrimp in that tank! I lost all my ghost shrimp (10) and every day it seemed like i lost a RCS- females mostly- but I recall pulling atleast 3 dead RCS out of the tank.
today i counted and recorded over 34 RCS in the tank, 10 of which are pregnant and carrying the eggs or having a sadle (the white visible white part on their backs, eggs developing in the ovaries).
this explosion seems to of happened all of the sudden but these shrimp are very small, they almost look like sea monkeys when they're firstborn. These numbers didnt literally happen overnight but those babies must've been able to go through the temperature change better than the remaining adults and over time this many has survived, and its great to see them reproducing so much! Soon (another month i'd say) i'll have a good enough number to start selling some of what i breed to my
