They will not crossbreed. Ghost shrimp get larger than cherries and we have not, in the fishhouse, kept them together so we can't say for sure as to whether they would co-habitate well. Cherries are "prettier" and more colorful and ghosts are more of a "Ohhh there is a shrimp there" (kind of a surprise when you spot em.)

They don't breed out of control really. But good water conditions, hiding places and java moss will help get the colony going.

They will breed based on the amount of food given, as do most snails. If you have too many you simply put less food in the tank and nature takes its course (survival of the fittest.) If you want more you don't simply feed more food, but a reasonable amount that will be eatten and not sit to rot.

Also if you get too many cherry shrimp going a lot of fish will view that as a nice food. (High in protein, kicks in the thrill of the hunt/chase instinct, and little risk of injuring your fish as it tries to eat it.)

Good job!

(Extra good bacteria surface on porous sponges, incase you didn't know. Also good for the shrimp to eat off of, as microfauna grows on them really well.)

Just got 6 and have been in the tank for an hour.. when I came back from walking the dog.. (it was a long walk) I turned off the lights before I left..I only see 2 .. do they hide?? or did the angels get to them.... hmm... if so that would have been expensive fish food..
