Feeding Time

I just began adding fish to my new 55g tank after it finished cycling. My first inhabitants are a small school of cherry barbs and a bristlenose pleco. The first time I fed the barbs they found their way to the top and greedily ate floating flake food. The next two times they didn't even seem to notice it was food time and hung out at the bottom. Do Cherry Barbs normally feed on floating flakes or do they forage all over the tank?

Thanks,
Nate

they normally are at the top waiting for food when the tank opens..are they going after the food when it sinks? ....do a quick check of the water parimeters to be sure everythings ok!

I will check the parameters when I get home. I have been doing daily water changes with prime so I hope thats not the problem. Maybe they just haven't learned what time breakfast and dinner are haha. Maybe they arent quite comfortable yet. There are 4 (2m and 2f) right now and I am going to add 3f next weekend. Thanks for the help!

Hopefully tonight I can get a thread with pictures started. I have had a ton of help from these forums so far so the least I can do is post some pics.

No I get out of work at 3:30est. I started out trying to copy the feel of Mathas' 90 gallon tank. It turned out nothing like that but I am very happy with it's look. Dr Foster and Smith has some beautiful mopani driftwood which made my job easy.

My cherry barbs let the food float down to them and the water is fine, I think they are just lazy and spoilt though lol. I usually feed them a mix of frozen daphnia, frozen bloodworms and a small amount of flake food. They do rush over t get the food but usually stay mid - bottom level.
