Grey spots on my Cherry Barb!!

Help required. Two of my Cherry Barbs have, over the last two days, developed grey spots on their backs, two on a female and one on a male. The fish are acting normally and no other fish seem to have any symptoms at this time. My question is, does anyone know what it is and how to treat it?

My first guess based solely on the information you provided would be neon tetra disease.

That may well make sense as I have just introduced 4 Cardinals Tetras to the tank 6 days ago, and I did not notice anything before that....

The disease can actually be carried/transfered from fish other than tetras. Be careful as it spreads and kills quickly.

Thanks for that, I've isolated the fish concerned and to be honest they look, and are acting fine. How long do I need to wait until I'm 'out of the woods' and can return the fish to the tank? I'm dosing the tank with some general medication at the moment just to make sure. I've looked at 'tons' of info today and I can't find anything that resembles any of the symptoms I have on these fish. Maybe there's nothing to it but I guess I should stay on the safe side?

I had one case of this before and my fish acted the same as they had before the discoloration. Unfortunately, they were fine one minute and dead the next. I think that if they are still alive in one week, they may be in the clear.

What are the spots like? Are they discolored areas, or fuzzy patches?
