HELP! KITTEN ALERT!

I have 1 male mature cat and a 6 month old female cat we think shes pregnant. Will she survive delivery of the kittens?

I think this is a good question for a vet. You should call a vet and ask him/her. But maybe ... if she was ready to get pregnant, she'll also be ready to deliver? Anyhow ... definitely call the vet!

Re: HELP! KITTEN ALERT!

I've heard of them giving birth that young. If I remember right, the biggest problem won't be her age so much as her size. If she's really small it might be difficult. No matter what, listen to Issabella and go see a vet just to make sure.

Re: HELP! KITTEN ALERT!

The most recent addition to our household was a young cat between 6 and 9 months. When we took her in for an exam, the vet said that she was pregnant, and that she could feel two heads. The cat gave birth, and did admirably.
Actually, from what my vet has said, the biggest thing you need to steel yourself for is that there is a higher than normal possibility of one or more of the kittens not surviving the birth, particularly if mom is carrying a heavy load. This happens in humans, too, younger bodies aren't yet set up to take support this extra life. However, Mika gave birth to six kittens (big shock considering we were expecting two), five of which were very healthy. From the research that my wife and I have done, the sixth (who wasn't strong enough to survive) was still an anomaly, just more common than with an adult mother.
Someone else already said this, but talk to your vet. Ask about mom's survivability (which will be affected by her size and previous health, things that I don't know about. Mika was pretty big when we got her). Also, ask about the danger to your adult male. Momma cats get very, very mean. I cannot overstate this. They can love their human companions, and Mika let us carry the kids around (in fact, she wanted the kittens near us, and would bring them to us no matter where we were in the house), but they generally despise all other cats while their kittens are around.
I would like to add one thing. Please, please, please, have her spayed once she has weaned her kittens, and if you put the kittens up for adoption, try and do so through a shelter that spays/neuters all of the animals that come through. There are too many cats out there. All three of my cats were abandoned by people who hadn't spayed/neutered their cats and couldn't deal with the kittens.

You said that so well. My husband and I do a little rescue work and we encourage the same.
