Devastating News

Debra, Helen's new mom called me today. We have been talking back and forth since she adopted Helen 3 weeks ago..For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about here is a thread about Helen. Fostering another Cat
Basically she was a cat we fostered that had a hard life..She lived through a F5 tornado and went missing for a year and a half..Showed back up one day blind..We had her for a month or so..Anyway..Debra called me today..She had Helen's eyes fixed, they were causing her allot of pain because the second eyelid had come down and was irritating the eye...She made it through the surgery just fine but passed away about a hour after the surgery..
This breaks my heart, she was a very special cat and had finally found a forever home where she was spoiled beyond belief. Debra is heart broken also and complety beside herself..It's awful and my stomach is just sick about it. Please keep Debra in your thoughts, she's really having a hard time and blaming herself. The Autopsy showed Helen's lungs were full of cancer that the Vet thought was caused by inhaling the asbestos from the tornado. I'm just so very sad and feeling awful for Debra.

I'm so sorry for you, Helen, and Debra I'm glad that you and Debra were able to rescue Helen and give her such a wonderful life for the short time that you did have her.

I'm really sorry to hear about Helen. I remember you telling us about her. Her story of survival was amazing.
I'm so glad she had such good love and care for the remaining time on earth.

RIP Brave Helen.

Hi..I just re-read your post about Helens remarkable story. Helen has totally blessed you, and her new care-taker Debra, with her presence and message of determination and survival. We never know why our beloved pets leave, especially suddenly, and even knowing why doesn't lessen the pain we feel in our hearts. Please remember in your grieving that you also gave love back to Helen, and a chance for her to rest from a horrible journey, to feel human trust and companionship and love again, and know that she carries that with her in her peaceful journey.
My prayers are with you an Debra, may you all feel some comfort in the knowing of Helen...blessing to you

Thank you so much. Those are such kind words and absolutely the truth. I've been trying to think of something more I could say to Debra to make her feel less pain and you said it..With your permission I'd love to pass this on to her. I'll let her know you wrote it. It truly put me and peace and I'm sure it will aid in her healing as well. Also thanks for reading Helen's story, It does have a very good message. Thanks again for your kind words.
