In June we adopted a male Snowshoe Siamese cat, Pickles for free. The family was giving him away b/c they had 4 kids who he was afraid of and he needed to be in a child free zone. He was handsome and just starting to warm up after being here only 3 week. He was cuddling & purring...playing with other cats. Anyhow the last week he was with us we were having a heat wave...he was panting and hiding a lot...it was super warm in our place. I noticed he was breathing oddly so I was keeping an eye out, but I truly thought it was just the heat. All the cat were still. I was watching television when I heard him cry out in pain, I picked him up and he died in my arms. I looked around there was pee in two spots...He had FLUTD ...his previous owners changed his food from Science diet to Purina about the same time the pet food recall happened.
Here is my beautiful angel boy. The handsome-est boy ever.

Oh my God I understand what you're going through. A while ago I've lost a cat too. I had a beautiful black and white female Kitty. She was stolen from our backyard at night. I still can't get over it, but I have to go on somehow. Can't go back in time and change events

I love Snowshoe cats so much - they're so beautiful. When I was looking for another kitty (to replace the stolen one), I had a Snowshoe in my options as well. But then, I saw this tiny poor calico baby that I had to take home on the spot. So, I've never got to have a Snowshoe. But, I love them all the same Doesn't matter what breed really. Once again, I am so sorry for your loss. I wasn't listening much to the news about the cat food recalls due to the disease it caused. I assume "FLUTD" was the disease? I hope the poor thing didn't suffer long, did it?

I am so glad my cats didn't fall prey to the poisonous food. It could have been my cats just as easily. I am so outraged at the pet food industry! So many pets had to die horrible deaths.

Poor Pickles suffered the day...he was going to the vets in the morning if he wasn't doing better but he didn't make it. Feline lower urinary tract disease, I think that is one of the diseases the bad food caused. It affected the kidneys to cause renal failure.
