hello
i really like the look of the african featherfin catfish but i dont no to much about them other than what i read on the tag at the LFS and i dont trust does tags to much.
if you keep featherfins or have knowledge on them could you please share it with me.

If this is him, you could do a google search for more info, I have no personal experience.
Wouldn't it be nice if the LFS would put the Latin name on the labels too?

If that's your catfish I can tell you they are beautiful and fun to watch. Ours got about 6 inches(not counting the tail). the only problem I had was he wanted to either sleep in the cave with the Rhino plec or the clown Loaches and none of them wanted him so they would chase him out of their caves. There were plenty of other caves but he didn't want them. We finally gave him to a friend where he could be an only pleco.

They will grow to about 6" in a year (presuming you start with a 2-3" juvie.) They're pretty easygoing in general, not aggressive toward other fish, but they do like to claim a hiding spot. I'd recommend at least a 55 for one or two, wouldn't try keeping more than two in a 4' tank though, and then only if it's suitably furnished (plenty of available cover, they don't like relatively bare tanks.)
