| Featherfin breeding (I know it is not recorded in captivity but....) My Boy friend has a set of Featherfins and the female keeps laying eggs but nothing is hatching.
We separate them when she starts scratching her belly (which is really extended) to the rocks in the Tank. She tends to flip up side down to do this. She is taking in an unusual amount of food even for her.
This last time she laid there was eggs (a milky white substance in the corner of the tank) in the tank. We leave them in for a two more day for the male to take care of his part (which happens to be reddish). The eggs turn a pink red color then back to whitish. Beyond that they seem not to hatch and slowly just fade away.
The tank is the same condition as the normal one. He puts a filter with a light layer of cheese cloth over the intake after we see the eggs. They have lain in the corner of the tank and against a side wall. There are a few things to help the slow the current so that they are not disturbed.
Then about two to three weeks later she starts to extend once again and becomes really hungry. I think from watching this cycle she should start scratching in about three weeks then we have about four days before seeing the eggs. I would really like to see these beautiful fish hatch out even if it is not known to have been recorded in captivity. Any information or possible tips you might have we would really appreciate them. Thank you
IF THIS A ILLNESS PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE IT OUT SO SHE CAN BE TREATED. |
