my upsidedown cat spoke to me !!!!

call me bonkers but as i was catching my small upsidedown cats one got her fin stuck in the net , i have heard of this happening and was trying to be careful and get them in my hand but sadly this one swam into the net (lesson learned ) anyway as i was trying to free her i swear to god i could hear a buzzing sound, almost like a bee x dolphin, coming from my fishy . i felt really bad coz it sounded like she was understandably in pain and /or frightened . just wanted to know if anyone else has heard their fish talk to them or if i should book myself in to the nearest looney bin ! in the end i managed to get her out and she is right as nine pence in the tank with her chums .

Upside down catfish are sometimes called squeakers because of the noise they make when stressed . I have heard of them making sveral different sounds so no your not crazy

Wow.

Too bad more fish can't make sounds when they're stressed. They might get more respect from stores that way.

Some Loaches make clicking noises when competing for food or really excited. One of the fellas at Loaches online thought his tank had cracked and it was the loaches. It was the first time he had heard it and it was a large group. They are by no means that noisy very often
Some plecos make noises like grunting when out of water. i think it is so cute.

I hear my corys squeak when they pop the surface for their little air gulp. I've heard UDC actually squeak though. (Kinda jealous!)

glad i am not bonkers , i am used to hearing the loach clicking away when he is eating but this really surprised me ! i felt awful for the poor thing , glad she was ok . it certainly is a shame other fish dont make a distress sound then, like lucy said, maybe people would be more considerate. thanks for quick answers at least i know it was real ! will definitely catch by hand after that .

Asian Bumblebee Catfish sometimes croak when they're out of the water, and they click when they're fighting...my sister's bio teacher says that mine croaked when she was transferring him into her tank, rather scaring her because she didn't know they did that xD He hasn't done it the two times we've transferred him at home, though.

I'm glad your cat is all right!

If all fish made noises when they were distressed, then pet shops would be very VERY noisy. lol
