pictus questions, need answers

how big can these guys get?

how much would a single pictus be? 2-3 inches. (AUS $)
i've seen them at $34.95 and at $20 AUS. is that cheap or expensive. they were 2-3 inches.

can these guys live with small fish? guppies, kuhlies, cory's etc.

are they aggressive? or peaceful?

will this guy be fine with a tandanus catfish?

thanks!

They get about 6" need at least 2-3, they are social, very active and peaceful. They have barbs on their fins, get caught easy in a net, so plastic cup is best to catch them. They like to have caves to hide in. Lots of swimming room because they are fast and tend to run into things. lol

Not sure on the price.

They shouldn't be kept with fish that will fit in their mouths.

But looking at your aquarium info you are pretty stocked. I wouldn't get anymore fish......

I've had my pictus since my daugther was in 8th grade, now she first year college (6 yrs). His name is Elvis. My daughter purchased him for her tank and then we moved him to my 26 gallon long tank. He is not aggressive but at night will eat anything that crosses his path. Most fish were eaten shortly after his transfer. Then I got some little bigger fish and he got them also. He is about five inches. He ate 11 fish (most where tetras when we first put him in my tank. Prior to moving a had heard they were peaceful which is different than they will eat smaller fish. I think he turns into a vacuum cleaner at night

Wolf m8, you do not have space in the tank fore a pictus or common pleco.

when I am not being a guppy fanatic I am a plec fanatic and with

my advice to you would be, Stop, sort out your stocking, and then think aboyt what other fish you may, or may not, be able to stock.

Your tank is super overstocked if your aquarium info is correct. Plues goldfish are coldwater.

a pictus around here goes for about $6 us dollars...but I agree with others...you have no more room for another ...you are severely overstocked and some fish require different water parimeters ...can you possibly get another tank ? yardsales are crazy with them this time of year...and does aus have a craigslist? tons of great deals there also...goodluck!

my tank is crowded, like you said, i am trying to convince my mom to let me get another tank. i got my 50 gallon tank only last month, so i don't think i'll get a tank any time soon. i already have heaps of pets, rats, a cat, a rottweiler, hermit crabs and mice. i can't get a tank until the new house mom said, i plan to get a really big tank in the future.

oh well, thanks any way!
