I read some was sold an Ancistrus instead of a Pleco because of the small size of his tank. Now I am confused as to what the difference is. For I thought an Ancistrus was just a bristlenose pleco.

Could some clarify this please.

It is a bristlnose pleco..they only get to be 6 inches as where the common pleco gets to be up to 24 inches.

they probably meant the ancistrus instead of a common pleco (the commons get huge, as Cesch pointed out, the bristlenoses are smaller )

agabr have you gotten a stand for your tank, yet. You can get a metal 1 for about $30. Petco and EBay have the best deals.

Well perhaps I shall get a bristlenose pleco. I have plenty of green algae on the wall of my tank, at times. Just want to get the DIY Co2 established first.

no i haven't gotten a stand yet i've been trying to avoid getting a metal stand if i can, i have a 20 on a metal stand and i wish i could have gotten a more solid one. i attempted to build one but it got put on hold since i'm at school, hopefully when i go on break i'll actually get the motivation to finish it

yeah, i LOVE the bn's, you should look at the calico BNs, they're gorgeous!

They have calicos at an LFS about an hour away from me. If I had room I'd have one of those already
