Paco the pleco... and his friends the mean cichlids...

I think he finally has got the mbunas to leave him a lone! I just took everything out of the tank to vaccum it and low and behold a beautiful untouched completlly healed up tail on my common pleco... I got a good look at his coloration too... Hes so cute! And hes fat too! I guess if your the only pleco in a huge tank you would get pretty fat yourself huh?
They were picking on him and his tail looked a little jagged... I noticed a couple weeks ago he was big enough that he would literally slap at the cichlids if they would pick on him... it was funny to see him defend himself... he did though! They let him be!
Now paco is a happy beautiful pleco!

Petey our pleco fights back with the africans. To the point that we have to sell him now. He went after our big acei & nearly sucked him. He is bigger than the africans are.

I have a 10" pleco in a 55 gallon tank with 4 red belly piranha. At first they were curious and would swim up close to him and he would smack at them with his tail, running the piranha away. The piranha are about 3" long now and they dont bother the pleco at all.

Now they all get along and I have never seen any bite marks or fins nipped. Also I keep the piranha pretty well fed so this could be a big factor of why they havent bothered him, but so far they have never shown any aggression towards the pleco.

Maybe its because he is 3 times their size, but I dont think that really matters when its 4 on 1, especially with piranha.

Just make sure you keep em well fed...or your pleco will be supper. We had a 13" Blue diamond rhom and a 12" pleco in our 120g for a bit. We kept the rhom well fed. They got along great.
But the moron who we sold him to went away for 2 weeks...no one fed him. The pleco was gone when they got home.
