When they get ready to breed you will want to supply them with a tight fitting container/hole in
driftwood/something very closed in. We use a ceramic pot that is flat on bottom and looks like a flask laying down. It is bulky on the majority of it, but the opening is just large enough for the BNs to fit into. They tend to only breed for us when we provide such a space.
The males tend to clean the space, and then he lets the female in for anywhere from a few hours to a day or two. He runs her off and fertilizes and guards the eggs, while fanning them with his fins, until they are hatched and usually about 3days-6days post-hatching.
