I am thinking of getting a Siamese Algae Eater I know they get up to about 6 inches but How long doest it take them to get full grown?

Most of mine have hit 4.5 to 5 inches within a year.

It depends on 2 things;
how much you feed it
what type of food it eats
If you feed it a few times a day with the food with the highest nutrient amount in it, it will grow a lot faster compared to a fish you feed once a week with regular flakes or granuales. Does that make any sense?

I have a single SAE in three diferent tanks, and they are doing just fine. I know they are a social fish, but I don't have the space for 5 or 6 of them in any of my tanks, and the only tank I ever tried a pair in the larger of the two relentlessly harassed the smaller one.

Tom yes that makes sense. But it would be in docile community tank. So It would get the foods I feed the rest of the tank. would one SAE be ok in a tank with Platys and cory cats and one Oto?
One more question...will they eat the green spot algae first then start eatting the flake and tubiflix worms? or will it need some other food?

Mr WaxHead...Thanks for your input. I'm trying to get as much useful info on them as I can. How old are your SAEs What do You feed them?
