Banggai Cardinal Fish.. HOW MANY?

Hey guys I was wondering if the Banggai Cardinal fish like to be schooled, or atleast in groups of two or something. I bought one and he hasn't been doing much except for sitting at the back corner of my tank, so I was wondering if they like to be schooled. Thanks for your help!

I have 2 in my 40b. They still just kinda float in one place until food arrives. Then they go nuts trying to eat everything before the bicolor angel can get any. Banggai cardinals are known for being relatively inactive swimmers that tend to hang out in the same spot a lot, if you have multiples they just hang out together. But they do look really cool.

they're beautiful fish... But I remember reading an article recently in a fish magazine, that said Banggai cardinals are being overfished in their natural waters, becoming endangered. They were advising against purchasing them.

I could be wrong though. I'll see if I can dig up that magazine, it was from a few months ago.

anyone else heard that?

I have read the article as well, but most of the ones I have seen around me have been tank raised. They are a very easy fish to breed in captivity.

They do look great in a school, but they are never going to be really active swimmers.

mine did the same thing when i put them in. she sat in the corner alone and still. i added another and they seemed to get a little more active. when the first one died, the second started to get less active. i think theyll always be inactive, but are more energetic in groups.

cardinals i believe are by nature nocturnal and most times are'nt to active. When nightime comes they will sometimes become more active. They are a great looking fish and a peaceful fish.I like the pajama cardinals myself.
