My Cardinal and neons have white dots all over them, on their bodies fins etc...
Its not on any other of my fish.. what could it be?
I dont think its ich as my clown loach would be the 1st ones to contract that right?

Should i treat them?
Should I get them out of my tank?

If it's not ich I don't know what it would be, why would your clown be the first to get it? Yes you should take them out, raise the temp and add some salt (use aquarium salt and directed amount) and until you figure out what it is. Look at Isabella's sticky in disease section to see if you can figure out what it is.

Ich is not a disease that infects all your fish at the same time, nor is it one that infects certain fish before others.. my experience with Neons and Cardinals though, has shown them to be a little more susceptible to infections and they stress easily( stress being one of the factors that can lead to an Ich outbreak).. your best bet would be to treat the whole tank along with the necessary water changes.

Jw, did you quarentine your cardinals or neons after you got them becuase neons tend to have a good chance of having ntd and are sensitive like Richard said while cardinals only being slightly larger and hardier?

Ive had the neons for quite a while, i had 2 firemouth cichlids who thought of them as a nice meal....after getting rid of the firemouths i had 2 neons left, so i bought cardinals as i know they school with them etc...


It is only now after introducing the cardinals that this has happened, but not on any other fish...Ive just this second done a 30% water change whilst treating it.

I hope they will be fine..

My Platys love water changes as when i put the water into the tank they swim right under and get blown by the light slow bubbles

I understand why you noted your clowns haven't got it yet as they are usually the first to get ich. They are super suseceptiable to ich. But it does sound like ich, and since they have all been exposed what I would do is raise the temp of the tank to at least 85F for 14 days. If they have a really bad case it may take longer but the higher temp will get rid of the ich. Raise the temp gradually and do water changes about every other day. Warmer water has less oxygen. Do not add salt as the clowns wouldn't like that. They are also very sensitive to meds. Hope that helps.

I also find with cardinals they like higher temps period, they are way less likely to get stressed and get ich when homed in a tank at about 80 to 81 degrees.
