Hi there,
I just got 14 Cardinals yesterday. All are healthy so far. I have been watching them and there is some interesting behavior that I was curious about. Most of them are schooling together but there is at least one that is busy on the bottom eating Daphnia and once in awhile one of the others will come over to it and they do kind of a swirling together in the water.
I did some reading about breeding and it does appear my tank is pretty right for it: Planted with fine leaf plants,
pH 6.8, low nitrates, 79 degrees, live food source.
Has anyone else seen any of this behavior and is it associated with breeding?
I have a hard time believing they would be breeding already just after the move but it sure looks like it. I dont have a tank to seperate them so I guess it doesn't matter too much.
