Disappearing fish

I had a small school of cardinal tetras (I have had them for nearly a year so they were not small) over a week they all disappeared, no remains. In the tank I also have a small angel fish, columbian tetras, couple host shrimp, rasboras, koulli loaches, one bristalenose pleco and one yoyo loach. I also have two old neon tetras who have survivied. Would any of these other fish eat the cardinals?

I don't think that any of your other fish would have eaten them while they were alive, but all fish will snack on another one that has already died. Fish can disappear pretty quickly that way. It's possible that the cardinals may have jumped out as well though, or gotten up inside your filter depending on what type of filter you are running. Any of the above is a possibility.

Even the shrimp will eat the fish after they die, and it doesn't take long! They will pull them down to their hiding places and overnight all that will be left will be bones, if you can find them.

Question is what killed them....You are concerned about your other fish....Do you test your tank for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates?

How big is your tank?

If you can get this information back to us, we may be able to figure out what is happening.

the tank is 25 gallons and water tests are all good, all other fish are fine I just wish 7 cardinal tetras were still there, the two remaining neons are lonely but I don't know if putting more in is a good idea.
