| And the last one for now, with the doors in place. The tab type push door handles will be on the inside of the door. Not sure how to describe them. lol. But when you push in on the door the tab will open the door and then you close the door, click and it stays in place. Gawd... wish I knew what they are called lol... anyway... here is the last photo today.
Now will have to laminate the oak trim to the edges of the stand to cover the oak plywood. Install door tabs and add the oak trim to the bottom kick plate(?) whatever its called at the bottom of the stand. And get some stain and stain the wood.
Tomorrow I will add the sand and water and let it sit for 24hrs before installing the filter. |

| thought I had the last photo of today... But here is the last one. My husband added blocks on the bottom, he said he felt better about that, and added the oak trim down there as well.
Now on to buying the stain monday. |

| Thanks Stradius!
Well, I have to say that my husband is not very happy with the stand. He says its ugly! hmmm.... not that it wasnt made good, he just doesnt like the style. He claims that its too plain looking. He probably wanted to add trim to the edges and the doors etc. But thats not what I was looking for. Like the photo in the first post, I wanted a contempary style stand. Nothing to compete with the tank and fish. But in the end.. he doesnt like it at all and I say.. wait til its got the stain on it. |

| Hi Shawnie...
wait til the stain is on lol... thats what I keep telling my hubby. I dont want any competition with the tank, decor and fish. I wanted a simple contemporary style. I like stensils too, but I think im going to cave into getting some silver/chrome handles on the doors instead of the 'invisable' door catch. He is quite capable of adding trim like he did with my bookcase/stand, but its just not what I was looking for. He doesnt mind calling it ugly all the time, but also says "hey! If your happy with it and thats what you want fine, its just ugly tho..." |

| lol I am sure he will....
Well its time for me to go do some work on the tank, add decorations, rocks, the heaters and canister filter, air pump etc etc and finish filling the tank this evening..
The big piece of driftwood is upstairs in the tub making a mess of everything.. holy cow.. what a mess that is! Its going to have a long soak and more cleaning with the knife before it can go in the tank. So I will do other things for now.. |

...hahahaa..just wanted to catch you by surprise...
I think I'd prefer maybe smoked/glass doors instead of the solid. and let him do some trimming...papa smurf will just keep staring at it until he can change it..lol |

Its jus a personal preference style is all. I want sleek straight modern lines and nothing that would look colonial or early american or bulky/heavy in style..
ohh well.... I will let papa smurf stare at it til he comes up with something that I like as well hehehe....
thanks for stopping by! |

| It's going to look so good! (Already does!)
But shouldn't you put the handles and hinges on after you stain? |

Thanks!
well i thought of that, but it would be another weekend before my husband finished it if I waited. lol... The handles I can unscrew and take off, which is what I will do when I use the stain. The hinges are real small and not in the way, thank goodness!
Im looking forward to staining it tomorrow. |
