| | Fish Helper | that was what I thought! But if they will be ok with the guppies I might just have to get some! I have been having trouble finding anything to help keep the bottom clean that won't eat all my fry...had a new batch born 3 days ago |

| | Fish Helper | critter- like shawnie said those bigger fish would def eat these shrimp. I have kept them with guppies, tetras, loaches, & danios in my 75 gal planted. you wont have any luck with them reproducing though in a tank that isnt a species-only tank, and it'd actually IMO be worth going out and getting a new 10 gal for $13 just to keep these guys! they reproduce nicely and they're awesome to watch
will post pics up in a bit! |

| | Fish Helper | pics these were taken a month or 2 ago I thought i had more pics on my comp but i dont, i'd have to take more if you'd like but this is what i had saved on my comp already.
the ones i'm selling are juvies and their color may not be as rich as some of the more mature adults shown: |

| | Fish Helper | after posting that and looking at it, it doesnt appear the color in any of them shown in the pic is "rich" lol, sorry they must be not the best pics? I have many that are a deep deep red, they look neat, like i said thats just what i had saved on my comp from what appears to be about 3 months ago, if you'd like to see better pics before you buy just ask! |

| | Fish Keeper | as for them living with angels, i have a single ghost shrimp that has lived 6 months with a pair of angels in a 29g. im surprised anytime i spot him, but he must have the big guys figured out, live plants definitely help him hide out well.
im considering buying some of these guys from you, but i dont have the money right now, maybe in a couple of weeks i can splurge on them!
how big are they full grown? |
| |

|
| | Fish Helper | I will still have them in a couple weeks! lol like i said i hit a milestone at over 100, so I'm figuring i can part with 20-30. Nobodys purchased any yet.
thats good to hear about your ghost shrimp! although these shrimps are a dwarf species of shrimp, & are much smaller full-grown than what the ghosts would be. Although it does definately help that your tank is planted. When i first got these guys I dumped them in my 75 gal community tank and didnt see any of them for weeks! I thought I had just purchased an expensive fish snack. But they are SOOO fast, even fish that I had expected would eat them didnt, they would try, but you see the fish going toward the shrimp and in a flash the shrimp are gone- they move extremely quickly!
the biggest they get full grown is just about an inch |

will post pics up in a bit! | Actually I have 6 in with my kuhli loaches and white cloud minnows (the minnows ARE being moved to a colder tank this weekend). I already see babies around the tank that are surviving and growing. You won't get as many as fast but they do survive
That being said, what would I be looking at for shipping to Canada? And enthusiast I LOVE the giant val you sold me. It's perking up wonderfully. One of the others didn't make the trip but (pennwort I think?) is starting to take root. I'll get you some pics.
And regarding the color, assuming you took them in the morning? When I first turn on the lights mine are kinda dull. They change shades of red as the day goes on lol Last edited by Kitsune; October 26th, 2009 at 02:57 PM.

| | Fish Helper | I had some in my 75 gal planted tank also and when i moved thats when i put them all in their own 10 gal. I'm sure mine did have babies also, though I never seen any, but the rcs and the ghosts regularly carried eggs & the tank was heavily planted. I coincidentally also keep kuhli loaches and white clouds
Glad you like the val! I'm moreso glad it got to you still alive! You were my 1st experience with shipping to a dif. country & even though it took longer than anticipated I'm glad a majority of the plants made it.
With the shrimp however I'm unsure of the costs; you've still been the only one I've dealt with living outside the US. But I'd almost have to say it'd cost more than what the plants did- which if i remember right was a considerably higher shipping cost than what anyone else paid me in the US lol. I'm assuming the cost would be higher because they're live animals, and we'd need to pay for a 2nd or 3rd day delivery. I can look this up if you are really considering buying quite a few shrimp, otherwise I couldn't see it worth your money to pay so much for shipping (i'm roughly estimating around $15-20? thinking your costs was $16 for the 6-10 days?) for just a few shrimp, however if you wanted 20 or so then it'd seem more reasonable?
As far as the color goes i never thought about it being pale because it was morning? The timestamp on the pics say I took those pics 3 months ago so i'm unsure of the time of day, but it makes sense to think that if it was early morning, just flipping on the lights and seeing a bunch out, turning on the lights would've startled them. |

They are brighter on darker substrate and are a little less vibrant at night (or right after the lights come on) as they are trying to camouflage in their environment. I totally hijacked your thread! Sorry bout that. |
