| For Sale! A GREAT DEAL Good morning. I have a 72g bow front tank w/stand, hoods, trimmed in black and the stand is black as well. It has been sitting empty on my screened porch for 1 year. There are no ugly water stains on or in the tank itself. It has never leaked, has all the original seals. There is no built in over flow, no holes drilled in it period.
The bar that reaches from the back to the front supporting the hoods detached from the front. Some say the bar gives support for pressure related issues and others say it only holds the hoods. I didn't have any problems with it the past two year that I had it stocked and running. Currently I have the bar reattached with silicone. The black stand could use a paint job.
The back of the tank I have painted blue and the paint is chipping off. It can be removed with a razor blade (gently) and I've read that oven cleaner will remove it easily as well.
I'm asking $100.00 (cash only, no personal checks) for the tank, stand and hoods. That's it. It's really been a wonderful tank. Too, I'm about to purchase a 240g set up and I need the space so this tank has to go.
This is for PICK UP only! I cannot ship it period. I live 45 miles SW of Charleston, SC close to hwy 17 and I-95.
If you decide that you want it, I will fill it up while you are here if you want to check for leaks.
Feel free to ask any questions.
A few pictures. In the shot with the two tanks...the 72g is of course the smaller one. The large one is my 155g that will also be for sale in a couple of months (another thread)
Thanks! Last edited by aquarist48; June 14th, 2009 at 05:43 AM.

| Hello lorabell. I thought some dimensions might help. Duh!! lol
The tank: 48" long 18" wide (at the widest part of the bow)and 23" tall
The stand: 49" long 19" wide and 28" tall.
Thanks Shawnie. I think it's a very fair price and a nice tank and stand. (and hoods). |

| Wow, lorabel - you've got a good collection of animals!!! I'm patient though, see what your husband says...
aquarist,
In the meantime, can you answer some questions?
1. What's the brand name of your 72 gal tank; is it all glass or acrylic?
2. Are there any chips/scratches on the tank or stand?
3. How old are the tank and stand?
4. How did you come up with $100? It almost sounds too good to be true - that's an awesome price for such a great pkg; tank, lid, stand....
5. Did you ever have problems of any kind with this tank?
Thanks!

| Hello.
I honestly can't remember the brand name of the 72g. I've had it for 8 years and kept it stocked for 7 years. It's been sitting empty on my screened porch for the past year. I bought it new and I think it was from Petco.
It is all glass. The bottom is tempered glass and a sticker on the bottom says NO DRILLING. (in other words a built in over flow would not be a good idea) I just did a double check and no chips and no scratches. Seals look great and tight. All the seals are original. It has never leaked. When I emptied it I drained it completely. No hard water marks. (see my first post too)
The stand came with the tank. It could us a paint job.
As far as the price...I just want someone that will make good use of it and enjoy it. I was going to take it to the FREE Stuff drop off down from my house and my partner suggested I at least get $100 for it and that would buy me some new fish. I figured if the price is low enough someone might just come and get it. I don't see myself being able to get away anytime soon.
Construction on my kitchen is close to being completed and work should begin on my aquarium room next week. The 72g is sitting where the construction is going to begin and I have no room to store it.
I want to give the fish that I have all of my concentration. Two tanks are enough for me. Last edited by aquarist48; June 15th, 2009 at 02:22 PM.

| Hi aquarist48,
Thanks for the answers! I'll keep my eye on this thread and if lorabell decides no, then I'll definitely consider the possible 4 hr drive.... Your partner is right - you should get some money for it!!!

I don't believe Perfecto makes/made a 72 bowfront. This would lead me to believe that it is AGA. If it is AGA, only the bottom is tempered, which means the back can be drilled (I've had this done on my 50 gallon AGA). In Perfecto tanks, I believe that all panes are tempered glass, which means that the tank cannot be drilled at all. Whoever is looking to buy this, you can easily have the back drilled by a professional and then convert it to a reef tank without a hang-on overflow. I would suggest replacing the top frame as the company claims that the center brace is in fact structural.
Bump for a great deal! If we had a truck I'd be all over it. |

| Thanks Harpua! I only see the sticker for the tempered glass on the bottom and I don't recall removing them from the sides. I appreciate the helpful tips! |
