Re-homing Cichlids in San Diego $5

Hi Everyone,

I am selling some of my African Cichlids because now that they are getting older, I need to make sure that I have correct male/female ratios to prevent aggression. I also have some Lake Tanganyika Cichlids mixed in with my mbuna and I don't think that's gonna work in the long term. I will be re-homing all of the following fish for $5 each. They are all healthy, well fed, and in great condition. Please let me know if you are interested.

3 Red Zebras (3 inches)
1 Male Zebra Obliquidens (3-4 inches)
1 Daffodil (2.5 inches)
1 Leleupi (2 inches)
1 Julie (2.5 inches)
1 Misc. Lake Tang. Cichlid (don't have the id on this one but is compatible with the other fish) (3 inches)
1 Female Convict (I know she's not African, but I need to re-home her as well) (2 inches)

heres how i ship ..im sure others do it their own way

dont feed the fish 24-48 hours before shipping...saves on waste in the bag

us the plastic bags that you get from your fish store (some places will give you some otherwise, you can purchase them cheap) and fill depending on size of fish, with 2-3 inches over the fish .....

I use a bicycle pump to pump air into it after it has the fish and water...although you can just swing the bag around to get it full with air also.....

tie up the bag and use an elastic ...flip the bag upside down and put it into another plastic bag, (it takes the corners away so the fish dont suffocate in the corners)

I ship in a shipping box where its a tight fit.(can get some smaller ones at the dollar store free)..I usually wrap a washcloth around the bag (cheap $1 ones) or I fill it with tons of bubble wrap....you dont want the bag itself to be able to move around at all...

hmm I think thats about it

That sounds very do-able I have tons of those plastic fish bags at home and a bicycle pump. I would probably pack the box with styrofoam to insulate. Well then guys let me know if you want me to ship em out

Also Shawnie, do you recommend shipping next day air, priority, etc?

I figured 1-2 lbs since the bags won't have much water. How does that sound to you?

You can get free boxes from USPS.com and either get flat rate boxes or priority. Priority is there within 2-3 days. I have shipped and received many fish, shrimp, and plants this way. Depending on the weather you might need a heat pack or a cool pack although right now it seems as though you could go without either one.

My bags o fish usually are about 7-9lbs to ship. Thats large bags with 1/3 water in them. I just got a shipment from Texas yesterday that was shipped Wed and the fish were healthy and happy. (they used a bunch of heat packs wrapped in newspapers as well).
