Psst...it's actually a Metriaclima species and won't get along with the Greyshakeis for long sorry.

Since I had to sell my Ice Blue, I may end up selling the female albino greshakeis too. The way these silly fish are classified and reclassified is honestly more than frustrating. For now they are living in peace and harmony - but they are still quite young. Folks said they would coexist - but that depends a lot on the fish itself.

I still need a msobo. My guy is not too forward, but just to be on the safe side, in case he decides he wants to get frisky! Maybe I'll find one at the ACA convention - sigh-

Or maybe I'll find another cichlid to steal my heart...

It is a pain in the butt, all these names and levels of aggression. We got rid of our Msobo male b/c when he reached maturity he killed our large acei and 4" frontosa. We would have had to order 2" babies in hopes of getting all females.

Have you looked on aquabid? there was a seller on there from NC that we bought our cynatilapia afra hai reefs from that we had a good experience dealing with. BTW if you are looking for a pretty cichlid that is peaceful those guys are full of color.

Sorry to be such slow poke about responding. We are redoing the kitchen AND helping my mom with her room addition! Anyway, I am not sure where I am headed with the cichlid tank. I am not sure if the male I have is a young adult or full adult. He is still smaller than one of the the Ice Blues, but the Ice Blue seemed pretty big. He's about on par with where the other ones were. I know they were adult. The albino greshakei are still young and peachy. One is a bit less peachy (or is it my imagination?) Four of them always stay together which makes me feel they may be females. One always stays off on his own, they other comes and goes. So, maybe one of those is male. Cory has said from day 1 that I have a 4/2 ratio. No aggression as yet, everyone seems to have their space in the tank with some shared swimming in the open water. The male msobo doesn't even chase his female much. I thought they were beginning a spawning relation the other day but I must have been wrong as things seem staus quo. They are hungry now and looking for me to come feed them -

I will look up the cynatilapia afra hai reef - Yes, I got everything I have now from various aquabidders.

So I will sign off and feed the fishes.

I found a beautiful albino male greshakei at the ACA convention. He is a show quality fish and quite large. I put him in with the msobos/female greshakei and the little msobo male was not pleased. The alb greshakei male was so stressed from the show and the trip here that he couldn't defend himself or get away very well. Even though he is at least 2 xs the size, he was coming out the underdog.

I am now in the midst of trying to make the tank work. I tried several rock reworks last night without success. So, I pulled out the msobo and set him up on his own for a couple days. I reworked the tank with some space in the middle - As I took out rocks to be able to catch the msobo, the more space in the middle seemed to help - figured it was worth a try.

I also found a person at the convention who has msobo deeps - but didn't bring them. So may try to get those females.

The albino has herded the females to one side and lets the msobo female have the other. He prefers to hang out with his ladies but does take the occassional swim across the tank. He hasn't started eating much yet, so will wait til he has a bit more strength before reintroducing the msobo male.

Should I try to get the female msobo and put her in with the male so I introduce them as a pair or keep her in the 55 and reintroduce him alone? they may have been trying to spawn which would account for the SOME of elevated aggression.

I know it may not work and I may have to house them as species until I decide which one to keep...Some have made it work - so I want to try. One more question - How long should it take them to settle into territories - if they are going to make it together?
