Re: advice on cichlids

It looks like your 20 gallon tank is probably full. At this point, just keep an eye on things for a bit and see if there are any behavioral changes. If anything gets overly aggressive and/or anyone is getting too stressed out, you will have to make some changes. Any good LFS will stand behind what they sell you and will be happy to take back any fish for store credit if the environment doesn't work out.

Re: advice on cichlids

Do you also have Kenyi and red zebra with the bumblebee? They can be overly aggressive and I would take out the gourami for sure. The bala is a fast swimmer and MIGHT be able to stay away from them for now but I fear for the gourami and tetras. If you have another small tank, I definitely would take him out now just to be on the safe side. If not, try to give them as much hiding places as possible (plants, caves, rocks) for refuge and hope for the best.

Goodluck!

I totally agree with FnF...I found my african cichlids did much better without anyone else in the tank. I had a red tail shark who chased all them around all the time...and fought with the bossy cichlids. The tetra will become dinner eventually..possibly the gouramis.

Re: advice on cichlids

Your bala shark is going to grow to 10-12" pretty quick,
but it doesnt matter because the cichlid is going to
start at the smallest and tear all your fish up. Id loose
the bala and the bumblebee then get another 2 gourami.
