| | Fish Keeper | I was just reading about these guys the other day. Super pretty!
I read that they need 55 gallons min. and they will eat any fish less than 3"! |

| | Fish Keeper | Hmmm, that would limit it to the Cichlid tank then. Oscar, Severum, Dempsey, Convict, Jewels and..............Bumblebee Catfish? Or would it just be an expensive meal for Brute? |

| | Fish Keeper | I've left a message for the seller asking how big it is. I think it would need to be at least 5-6 inchs for Brute not to regard it as something I've put in the tank for him to eat. if it's a lot smaller do you think it could live with my angels, kribs, swords, platys and BN Plecs in the 40gal for a while? I have five corys in there too, but I was thinking about moving them to the 40gal guppy tank anyway. |

| | Fish Keeper | Here's a picture of the actual fish. It's advertised as a 'South American Bumblebee Catfish'. |

| | Fish Keeper | Here's an article about the name you listed: http://www.planetcatfish.com/cotm/co...?article_id=91
This article is about the bigger type that I initially thought you were getting: http://fish.mongabay.com/species/Pse...s_raninus.html
The south american bbc seems to be the much littler version of the bbc. But that article says they are non-agressive community fish. The article also gives some tips for telling the sabbc apart from the juvenile bbc. Maybe he could go in the smaller tank? Last edited by iloveengl; October 7th, 2009 at 04:33 AM.

| | Fish Addict | SA bumblebee cats are strictly nocturnal. You'll almost never see them, and they will eat anything small enough to fit into their wide mouth. Don't put it in the guppy tank... |
