Bumblebee Catfish

I purchased a bumblebee cat a few weeks ago and the next day I found it dead. The ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates were perfect(nothing wrong or too high). It is going in my 33 gal. tank. If anyone could, could you give me any advice on how to keep a happy and healthy bumblebee cat. Thanks appreciate it.

Re: Bumblebee Catfish

Welcome to Fish Lore!!!!
Bumblebee's do best with lots of hiding places.
Tank mates should be fish atleast half again the size of the bumblebees.
Do you have any idea which ( Asian or South American) species you are interested in?
The Asian is more commonly available and stays much smaller.
Both species do best on live foods, but will take pellets in time.

best,
Dino

Re: Bumblebee Catfish

It is the South American bumblebee. It also has lots of hiding places for it and my clown loach. Thanks.

Re: Bumblebee Catfish

Ithink mines an asian one so I dont think i would be of any help. They only thing i would suggest has already been suggested by Dino. Maybe that bumblee was a sick one or the place had way different parameters to you. Because i find most catfish to adapt quickly to new environments.
