Master Of Fish Poo!

Last night between 6 & 8 pm, one of our Red Fancy Gups dropped a batch of about 2 dozen fry. I took these pics while they were acclimating to the guppy fry tank, so they're 1-3 hours old. (and already eating. )

Here's 2 platy fry I've found in a female-only tank (well, they're sharing with a molly male).

One of my angel pairs has finally decided to become proper parents! This time we just left them to it, and wow! They have raised their own fry and are now busy protecting the fry against the other fish.
The pic is not brilliant, but you can see the fry above the mother:

I only found two platy fry, a week apart, in a tank with only two female platys (and a male molly): one calico platy and one sunset mickey mouse one. Am guessing their mothers were still pregnant from the shop, but I've had the mothers quite a while, so it's surprising. Ah well. One of life's little presents I guess.
The calico platy fry is still very pale, I find. I'd like to see the black on his back darkening a lot more.
I love the close-up of his face.

1/ My sunset mickey mouse platy fry followed by molly fry. He's checking out a jelly nest of snail eggs. He gave me hope that he would eat them, but he just looked... Argh! Will nothing rid of me of that terrible pest?
Note the developing mickey mouse pattern. Only this week has the mickey mouse face started to darken (he only had the ears for a while).
2/ For some reason, the molly fry is always following the orange platy fry around (they're 3 weeks younger).
3/ The platy fry in hte middle of a basket holding ring.

Here is a picture of my "miracle" guppies!
The thing about these guys is that they randomly appeared in my betta tank and I haven't had guppies in 2 or 3 years!

Great idea on the black substrate. It's supposed to really relax fish (even if the fish is white!)

I heard that, and even though I wasn't sure at first, I absolutly love how much more natural it looks.
As for the babies, I'm not sure what happened, but I suspect the fry food I found. It was this little bottle of supposedly fresh brine shrimp babies, but it smelled a bit weird right after they died, when I threw it away. Doesn't matter, my female has gone from maybe being preggo to definitly laying eggs... TONIGHT if I'm not mistaken. Her tube is huge, and both of them have been going crazy cleaning one of my broadleaf anubis leaves. A good choice, it's a nice thick healthy leaf. And this time I'm leaving the babies with mom, to see what happens.
