Cherry barbs are very easy to breed. To start, you'll need (of course!) a mature male and female.
Keep them in separate tanks, and feed them lots of frozen/live food until you see the female swell with eggs.
Put both into a heavily planted 10 gal tank with great water params and a temp of about 79 degrees, that you have just done a large
water change on. The male should turn deep red.
They should start spawning rapidly. Keep watch and see if they start twining themselves around the plants, moving upwards. The female will be laying her eggs and the male will fertilize them. If they don't do this, you may have to separate them again until the female is ready.
You'll need to remove the parents after the spawning as they will eat their eggs.
If you don't want 200 or 300 babies, you can leave the parents in the tank. Have larger stones on the bottom and preferably a good sized ball of Java moss for the babies to hide in. Quite a few may survive this way!
