i have a baby!!

would you believe it....there i was looking down the side of the tank looking for mrs bristlenose, only to see a little fish swimming about on top of the filter!! ok, so my guppies have been preg forever.....so guessed it was from one of those.....they are all still very pregnant. now, can a guppy release just a few fry and therefore still look as preg as before? this baby fish is 5mm long. it was right up to the side of the glass so i could measure it! much bigger than i expected fry to be. i thought they'd be barely visible to the naked eye! but i can see its eye, its spine and body very clearly! if only my camera took good pictures of small things!! or..could it be a baby danio? how old do you think it is? i've never seen fry before!! its in a really good place cos the other fish cant fit on top of the filter, and i put a bit of fluffy plant up there for it to hide in. as i dont know how old it is i've no idea what its been eating, but i gave it some crushed/powdered flakes to get on with. i thought the fry would hide under logs/rocks/among plants, but this one just hovers above the filter! i dont know if it had siblings which were gobbled? how big are they when they can be deemed safe from being gobbled? there's only guppies and danios that are the hungry threats! i dont think the others would bother. they're too lazy! also would you believe it....did a water change this morn ....wasnt looking for fry as the guppies were all still round and preg, really hope there arent any fry on my lawn! its snowing too. i'm in shock....i have a baby AND preg guppies!!!

also, while i'm on the subject of babies etc....i often get clear blobs with white dots on my plants, the glass, the filter etc. i've always assumed they're snail eggs and remove them. . . .but....what do fish eggs look like. really hope i've not thrown any fish eggs away . i'm such a novice!!!

looking forward to your help!!! - i'm so excited!! i'll be watching the single lonely fry all night and shooing away the bigger fish!

also what is it you do with lettuce to make fry food? something about warming it and extracting the juice?! cant remember who said it or when, but i'm sure i have read that somewhere on here!!

a proud tan!!
