Well, at least one more tank as a baby grow out tank. Of course a couple net breeders. If you can't do two tanks, and your main tank is large enough, a divider might work. This way you don't need to buy another filter, heater, etc. But you really need to have room in your main tank for this. I keep my molly fry in a net breeder for about a month, unless it gets crowded before then. This depends how many fry are in there and how fast they grow. Guppies are smaller than mollies, so you should be OK for a month with a breeder. After that I move the fry to either the baby grow out tank, or I use a tank divider in my main tank. Good luck.

What I use here is 3 x 10 gallon tanks a strain.

Tank 1- adults
Tank 2- babies and slower growing fry from previous spawn
Tank 3- young fish too big to go with the new born fry but not large enough to go in with the adults

In the past, I have used dividers and placing a lot of plants in the tank to save fry.
Both real and plastic plants are useable.
Another method is to make mops using polyester yarn and corks to make artifical floating baby savers.

I am still confused, looks like 2 females of mine will have babies in about a week and all i have is a 5 gallon tank in which all fish is there. Please advise on how to proceed. Should i buy a another 10 gallon plus net breeder will this enough. Should i also buy three way divider for female to be seperated from babies.

It's ok, it's better to let the fry be eaten than rush into buying stuff, I would just let them be this time and let nature take it's course. Your best for sure bet is to make the mops like Dino said and to go out and buy some dense fake plants for the babies to hide in. I would also once the guppies are skinny all of a sudden crush up some flakes so the babies can eat too. I would wait and look around on ebay and cragslist.com or at your LFS's for a sale and get as large of a tank as possible. If not you can buy a 10 gallon and make a divider, post in betta board to make your own and divide them and do what Dino does on a small scale. I would get a sponge filter for both sides and cycle your tank and then put your next guppy fry in the tank.

Dino feel free to correct me or add anything please.

Re: how many tanks will i need for breeding guppies

I would use a breeder net only to house the fry.
Placing a close to delivery female in a breeder net will only stress her out.
Maybe to the point of prematurly dropping the fry.
I would move the ready to drop female off by herself about a week before she is due.
And remove her as soon as she stops having babies.
So, two tens and a breeder net could do it.
First ten-adults
Second ten- for females about to drop
Net- in second ten for grow out

Yet another method is to use the mops/plants and just check them a couple of times a days for babies.
