| Oops! Uh, I need a little advice. I just walked by Shelby's JD tank. She has a male blue JD and a female gold JD. There's a couple hundred fry swimming around. I hope they show up in the vid. I wasn't expecting this. How do I care for JD fry? I'm used to convicts, but this is my first JD spawn and I didn't do it on purpose |

| I'd imagine just let the parents do their thing...
They're EBJD & gold crosses |

| Blue Gene, not Electric Blue. Mom's a gold. Dad's blue gene. He's the one guarding them in the vid. I'll try to get a better vid of him later when it's dark outside. Maybe he'll show up better. I didn't see this coming, I just assumed they weren't old enough and that they were difficult to breed.
Should I just re-name my house the fry factory? 5 convict spawns in the past 10 days, 3 guppies had babies in the past month. But those are easy. I thought JD's were much more picky about spawning. |

It's too fertile! | This from the woman who has a cory baby and she's not sure which type of cory it is? Hmmm, I'd say your water is just as dangerous as ours Quote:

Brian | Thanks Brian
I have total sympathy for the parents. It's a 55g tank and those fry are EVERYWHERE! They are definitely refusing to stay in the yard Mom and Dad are being run ragged chasing them down to put them back in the house.
There are two pink convicts in the tank as well, but they're keeping a respectful distance. If things get dangerous for them, I'll put them in an empty 29g. |

| UPDATE: The babies have disappeared. I guess Mom and Dad or the pink convicts got hungry. Mom looks kinda upset. I'm sure some convict fry will cheer her up. I've heard it's like chocolate for humans At least I know what to expect the next time and I won't be in a panic trying to figure out what I need to do. |

I may take out the pink cons the next time they spawn. I still have empty tanks, so it really wouldn't be a problem. I'll get one aquascaped soon in case of a repeat performance How often do JD's spawn? |

mine spawned in july and just again this month..but im sure sherry can help more as she has just jd's in her tanks as far as i know.... |

| I'm guessing at this, but I'm thinking they're both at around 4". They're definitely upset with each other. They're in separate bedrooms on opposite sides of the tank. Maybe it was a domestic dispute that involved the children. |

and im sure dad forgot to change a a diaper or two and just rinsed the bum under the shower!! that would upset any mom |

| Aaaahhh, that makes sense. They heard about the birds and didn't realize they were to young for the bees . This spawn was a TOTAL shock to me, so it probably shocked them, too. That's cute, they're a couple teenagers in love. |
