Has anyone seen this guppy behavior?

I have 10 baby guppies, about 1 1/2 weeks old, in a breeding net growing in my 55 gallon tank. I was shocked to find the mom guppy in the net with them this morning. Evidently, she managed to leap over the top of the net and luckily didn't or couldn't eat any of them. I've since moved the mom back out and the net higher up. Do fish have any maternal instinct or was it just total coincidence that the mother was back in the breeder? I had the blue lunar light on last night. I wonder if this triggered the behavior?

Thanks,
Patrick

I had the same thing happen to me, I came back from vacation and I saw my yellow male guppy in the breeder box. He was too slow to catch the fry because of his tail and he was too stressed out by the small encousure

I have had the same problem with a molly of mine, she keeps getting over the net( or any divider for that matter)
Good luck on the babies

That's wild! I never had any idea they would do that. It's been fun watching them get bigger and I'm really glad she didn't eat them up.
