A money making fish in 120 gallon tank

What kind of fish would work here? I would want one that can cover the price of the tank after awhile, I'm OK with long term stuff. And can you sell Guppies? even at a very low price?

I breed and sell Guppies over here in New Zealand, but unless they're of Show Quality then they're worth virtually nothing. If I had a 120gal tank for breeding then I'd go with Electric Blue Jack Dempseys.

If you are planing on shipping these fish you sell the shipping will be $20.00-$30.00. Now is a buyer going to spend that much for shipping for a $2.00 fish. I think not. I agree with Nick you have to breed something that is going to be worth your time and money to raise and for your customers to buy.

It's very hard to make money breeding fish and selling them. Many LFS will trade for food and supplies but very few will pay money for them.
When I was breeding long fin albino bristlenose I was fortunate to find a LFS that would buy them from me but it was because nobody else locally was breeding them.
So you could check and see what is in demand in your area.
I wish you luck

How much money are you thinking to invest in breeding stock?

Lots of things to think about. Really tough to make money doing this small scale.

Are you going to breed in the 120gal? Where are you going to raise fry? Growouts? Stock waiting to sell? Are you going to ship? Do you have all the shipping supplies? Do you have the funds and supplies to feed the parents and the fry waiting to sell?
