| | Fish Keeper | What do you think of these guys? These are my first attempt at a "custom" line of Guppies. They are a cross between my Male Neon Leopardskin, and Female Tuxedo Flame. They seem to have dads head and chest, mums back and tail, but with dads spots on the flame tail. They're colouring up well, and developing their tails nicely. I'm quite pleased with them. Next attempt is a Neon green Cobra male with a powder blue female........... |

| | Fish Keeper | Any chance you could post pics of the parents? I love genetics as far as fish breeding goes, so i'd like to understand how different species pass their traits. I know how discus work, looking for others!
Never been much of a guppy guy, but lately some of them have struck something in me. |

|
| | Fish Keeper | One of the most difficult things in breeding guppies that I find is getting virgin females. Most of the fish that I use have been bred by me, and I separate the males and females as soon as I can tell them apart. Trouble is some of the boys are "late developers". I recently had a tank with 20 young "girls" in it, only to find that one of them was actually a little boy, who impregnated the entire batch single handedly! As soon as the girls come into contact with any male other than the intended father, they become useless for selective breeding, due to their ability to store sperm. |
