| | Fish Addict | its always better to have more females than males, it cuts down aggression and may help your chances of breeding . |

| | Moderator | danios are awesome fish...and they scatter their eggs so make sure you have a ton of hiding spots otherwise every fish in the tank, including the parents, will have a snack |

| | Fish Helper | Hi dragonshark,
I have had long-finned Zebra Danios for over a year and a 1/2 now. I normally keep the tank temp. around 76 degrees F.
At around one year, I had to medicate and turned up the tank temp. to 80 degrees F. Shortly after that, I started seeing fry. They are about the size of an eyelash with two big black eyes!
Since then, I have always had fry in the tank. I think it had something to do with the increase in the tank temp. and I suppose the fish had to get to maturity before they lay eggs.
I still keep my tank at 76 degrees F. and I still have fry. I got my fish from a pet store and don't know their age at that time.
Be patient - as long as you have males, females, and the right environment, it's gonna happen!!
Good luck and please post some pictures!!!

| | Fish Bum | for me i put in a bundle of moss. then remove it overnight to a small container. Frys appear.... it is very easy to get danio (zebra) to breed. |

| | Moderator | Hello DragonShark and congrats on the new additions. Robin 4 is correct that raising your temperature a degree or two will help initiate the spawning process. Too, sometimes changing foods will help as well.
Best of luck and I hope you have some fry before too long.
Keep us posted please.
